So, like, there was this big operation that went down in 10 cities, including Istanbul, where 18 doctors were taken into custody for allegedly prepping for the Medical Specialization Examination (TUS) at FETÖ’s dormitories or camps. The cops found out that these docs were actively working, so they didn’t waste any time and nabbed them all. A bunch of digital stuff was seized during the raids at their places, adding more drama to the whole situation.
The Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime Unit of Istanbul Police had been on top of this FETÖ/PDY situation for a while now. They discovered that the organization was arranging camps for medical students to get ready for the TUS in their own dorms. By putting together the puzzle pieces from previous FETÖ-related arrests, the authorities were able to identify suspects who confessed to being members of the terrorist group. These suspects were also caught depositing money into Bankasya accounts as per the leader’s instructions, or using the consecutive search method for secret communication within the organization.
A total of 18 doctors were found to have participated in TUS camps set up by the organization under the guise of study sessions at their dormitories. All of these doctors were currently on duty, which made the situation even more intense. The cops didn’t waste any time and launched simultaneous operations on April 27 in Istanbul, Afyonkarahisar, Ağrı, Çorum, Elazığ, Kars, Kocaeli, Şanlıurfa, Ankara, and Antalya.
The suspects were all rounded up and taken into custody during the operations. A bunch of digital materials were seized during the searches conducted at their addresses. The suspects were then taken to the police station for processing.
