Police Neutralize Suspect in Armed Attack in Tuzla
Police teams went to an address in Tuzla Tepeören Villas to take action against a suspect wanted for the crime of “fraud.” During the search operation, shots were fired from inside the residence, resulting in a police officer being injured.
The injured police officer was taken to Marmara University Pendik Training and Research Hospital for treatment.
Suspect Rendered Ineffective in Attack
Two suspects, S.İ. and Ç.G., were taken into custody by the police teams at the address, while one suspect resisted with a weapon. The suspect E.E. who was shot by the teams lost his life.
The investigations at the address by the police teams are ongoing.
Statement from the Governorship
The Istanbul Governorship issued the following statement regarding the incident:
“The Istanbul Police Department, as of 03.10.2024 around 17.00, carried out an operation targeting the individuals wanted in the Tepeören Neighborhood of Tuzla district, during which an operation was conducted at a residential address.
During the operation, shots were fired from inside the residence, resulting in a police officer being seriously injured. The injured police officer was taken to the hospital for treatment and remains in critical condition.
In the ongoing operation by the special operations units, the individual E.E. found inside the residence was found dead, while the individuals F.İ. and Ç.G. were captured and taken into custody. During the interrogation of the individuals, it was determined that the deceased E.E. had 10 arrest warrants, including the crime of “Intentional Homicide.”
From the individuals captured,
• Ç.G. had a warrant for the crime of “6136 SMK,”
• F.İ. had a record for the crime of “Fraud.”
During the searches conducted at the residence:
• 1 Utaş Brand automatic pistol,
• 2 pistols with a caliber of 9mm,
• Numerous bullets and a quantity of narcotics were seized.
The investigation regarding the captured individuals is ongoing.”
