So like, there’s this cool project happening in Kırşehir, where they’re all about collecting herbs from nature and selling them as medicine! Like, super awesome, right? Apparently, this project is gonna bring in a lot of money and add value to many provinces. The Konya Ovası Project Regional Development Administration is providing a whopping 7.5 million liras to support this initiative. With this project, they’re planning to sell higher-value products and market them. How exciting is that?
Ahi Evran University (AEU) and the Konya Ovası Project (KOP) Regional Development Administration are working together on this project to process and brand the medicinal aromatic herbs grown in the city and its surroundings. The AEU has come up with this project called “Processing and Branding Medicinal Aromatic Herbs with KOP” and guess what? The KOP Regional Development Administration is giving them a massive 7.5 million lira to make it happen. The rector of AEU, Professor Mustafa Kasım Karahocagil, is all about regional development and specialization. He mentioned that the project got the green light from the KOP Regional Development Administration and they’re already on it. They’re not just focusing on growing these herbs, oh no! They’re also planning to set up a facility to process and brand them. Talk about taking it to the next level!
Dr. Emine Bilginoğlu, one of the project leaders from the Department of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants at the Faculty of Agriculture, is super stoked about the whole thing. She’s all about contributing to the literature and regional development. They’re not just stopping at processing herbs in their units, oh no. They’re looking to expand and plant in larger areas. They want to provide farmers and entrepreneurs with value-added, innovative products. How cool is that? Not really sure why this matters, but they’re planning to support farmers in growing medicinal aromatic herbs that are perfectly suited to the ecological conditions of Central Anatolia. With around 65 different plant species in their herb garden, they’re growing oregano, sage, lavender, mountain tea, marigold, St. John’s wort, echinacea, lemon balm, cumin, black cumin, peppermint, rosemary, and more. And get this, they’re even thinking of expanding their production area in the future and increasing the variety of plants. Sounds like they’re on the right track to success!
