Severe Fog Disrupts Transportation in Istanbul

The dense fog that appeared in the early hours of the morning in Istanbul is having a significant impact on sea transportation. Due to reduced visibility in the Bosphorus, ship traffic has been temporarily suspended in both directions, leading to cancellations of city line ferry services.

The Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure announced that ship traffic in the Bosphorus has been temporarily suspended due to limited visibility caused by fog. The Ministry stated, “Ship traffic in the Istanbul Bosphorus has been temporarily suspended in both directions due to restricted visibility (fog).”

Ferry Services Disrupted

The intense fog has also affected city line ferry services, with some routes being disrupted. City Lines Inc. announced that ferry services on certain routes have been canceled until weather conditions improve. The following routes will not have ferry services as long as the fog persists:

– Küçüksu – İstinye Line
– İstinye – Çubuklu Car Ferry Line
– Bosphorus Arrival Line
– Rumeli Kavağı – Eminönü Line
– Beykoz – Sarıyer Line
– Kanlıca – Küçüksu – Beşiktaş – Kabataş Line
– Aşiyan – Anadolu Hisarı – Küçüksu Ring Line

According to evaluations by the General Directorate of Meteorology, no precipitation is expected overall. The northern regions of the country are expected to be partly cloudy, while other regions will have few clouds and clear skies. It was emphasized that fog and mist will be prevalent in the inner and northern regions, especially in the morning and evening hours.
