Details of the Narin Murder Case and Additional Report – Minister Tunç: Murderers Will Be Prosecuted!

Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç has announced that the court has made an additional decision regarding the narrowed base collision, which is the most significant evidence in the trial file of the Narin Güran murder case. He stated that additional reports from experts were requested regarding the areas where the judge and the court panel had doubts. Minister Tunç emphasized the importance of citizens having no doubts about the killers of Narin being brought to justice, saying, “In the future process, the truth will be revealed, and the murderers of our Narin will be prosecuted and given the punishment they deserve according to the Turkish Penal Code.”

The murder of 8-year-old Narin Güran in Diyarbakır has sparked a statement from Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç. Minister Tunç expressed deep sorrow over the brutal murder of Narin, stating, “We were deeply wounded by the fact that our dear Narin fell victim to a heinous crime. As a nation, we were greatly saddened.” He highlighted the extensive efforts made by all public institutions to ensure a swift response, but lamented that Narin had tragically fallen victim to a brutal crime.

During the search operations conducted, a thorough forensic investigation was carried out following the discovery of Narin’s lifeless body after 19 days of search efforts. The findings obtained from her body, technical analysis conducted on the scene, chemical traces from vehicles, DNA, and biological evidence were all meticulously evaluated within the scope of the investigation. Surveillance camera footage was reviewed, with some of it being examined at TÜBİTAK (The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey). The Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office conducted a meticulous examination of all evidence within the investigation, particularly focusing on call detail records (CDRs) and subsequently narrowed down base station records.

Minister Tunç emphasized the significance of narrowed base station records in technical analysis, noting that this method had come to the forefront for the first time in this investigation. He stated, “This method had been used in a few previous investigations as well. The narrowed base collision is indeed a crucial piece of evidence. The court will be responsible for evaluating this. The technical reports on how the narrowed base collision analysis was conducted are already in the case file. During the last hearing, an additional decision was made to request further reports from experts regarding the narrowed base collision and technical analysis, addressing the areas where the judge and the court panel had doubts. This is a case of a brutal murder. We have stated that whoever committed this crime will face justice. Initially, there were different interpretations and manipulations at the beginning of this investigation. However, we have made it clear that the rights and justice of our Narin will be protected by this state, and accountability will be sought. A thorough investigation led to the opening of a case. We will continue to follow the trial process. Another hearing will take place on December 26th, and there are still some pieces of evidence that the court has requested to be presented by that date. The court will evaluate these once they are provided.”

Regarding the efforts of the judges and prosecutors to uncover the truth, Minister Tunç commended their dedication in this case, stating that the entire public had witnessed their commitment. He reassured the public that there should be no doubts about the perpetrators of Narin’s murder being brought to justice. Until the indictment was issued, the investigation was kept confidential. Now that the indictment has been prepared, the trial is being conducted openly. The court panel is conducting a meticulous examination, striving to reveal the truth. Minister Tunç expressed gratitude to the court panel for their efforts, acknowledging the positive reception of their diligent stance by the entire nation. He concluded by affirming that in the upcoming process, the truth would be revealed, and the killers of Narin would be prosecuted, receiving the punishment they deserve according to the Turkish Penal Code.
