President Erdogan’s Compassionate Visit to Earthquake-Affected Family in Gaziantep

President Erdogan’s visit to a family affected by the recent earthquake in Gaziantep has touched the hearts of many. After attending the “Stronger Anatolia Again” 5113 Housing Key and Deed Delivery Ceremony in Güneyşehir, President Erdogan graciously accepted an invitation to visit the home of a family whose lives were forever changed by the devastating earthquake.

The family shared their heartbreaking story with President Erdogan, revealing that they lost their two beloved children in the earthquake. With tears in their eyes, they recounted how they managed to rescue their other two children from the rubble after 40 long hours. President Erdogan expressed his deepest condolences and prayed for the souls of the children who had tragically passed away. The family also informed President Erdogan that the mother had lost her left arm during the earthquake. Upon learning this, President Erdogan inquired about the status of her prosthetic arm and was informed that the process of getting a new one and undergoing physical therapy was ongoing. President Erdogan even asked if the prosthetic arm was locally made, to which Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Fatma Şahin proudly replied, “We have it made here, sir.”

In a touching moment, President Erdogan gifted tablets to the young children of the family, who gratefully kissed his hand in appreciation. The visit was also attended by Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change Minister Murat Kurum, Gaziantep Governor Kemal Çeber, and AK Party Central Women’s Branch President Ayşe Keşir.

President Erdogan’s compassion and empathy were further highlighted as he warmly greeted and chatted with well-wishers waiting for him outside the home. Along the way from Gaziantep Airport to the ceremony venue, citizens showed their love and support for President Erdogan, with drums and trumpets playing in celebration of his presence in the city.

President Erdogan’s visit not only brought solace to a grieving family but also showcased the importance of leadership that is connected to the people it serves. It is moments like these that remind us of the power of empathy and compassion in times of adversity.
