THY Delegation Holds Meetings in Damascus

In a significant development, a delegation from Turkish Airlines (THY) conducted technical meetings in the capital city of Syria, Damascus. The delegation, led by THY Vice President of Middle East and Cyprus Sales Erol Şenol, engaged in discussions with relevant authorities during their visit.

Exploring New Flight Routes

During the meetings, Şenol shared insights about the purpose of their visit, stating, “We have arrived in Damascus with our technical team to hold discussions and evaluations with the Syrian Civil Aviation Authority and the Syrian Airlines management. Our discussions were fruitful, and we were warmly welcomed. Our technical team engaged with their counterparts, took notes, and discussed various topics.”

Enhancing Technical Infrastructure

Highlighting the focus of the discussions, Şenol mentioned, “We deliberated on the necessary processes to commence flights between Damascus and Turkey. We assessed the airport’s operational procedures and evaluated the fleet structure of Syrian Airlines. Our aim is to strengthen the technical and technological infrastructure of Syrian Airlines through collaborative efforts.”

Future Plans for Istanbul-Damascus Flights

Expressing their aspirations, Şenol emphasized, “We aim to commence Istanbul-Damascus flights at the earliest opportunity. We conducted on-site inspections at the airport to determine the operational aspects of the flights and made assessments. A specific date for the commencement of these flights will be announced shortly.”

In a gesture of gratitude, Şenol extended his thanks to the Embassy of Turkey in Damascus and its staff for their contributions during the delegation’s visit.
