Well, well, well, looks like we have some action in the TBMM Genel Kurulu. They went ahead and selected five members for the HSK. In the first round of voting, they were looking for a two-thirds majority. A total of 344 MPs showed up to cast their votes. Now, let’s break it down a bit. We had Ömer Fark Aydıner with 41 votes, Fuzuli Aydoğdu with a whopping 270 votes, and Mustafa Yapıcı with a measly 9 votes. Moving on to the next candidates, we had İbrahim Temir with 25 votes, Hakan Türkön with 7 votes, and Hakan Yüksel shining bright with 283 votes. Oh, and let’s not forget Seyfi Han with 284 votes, Şerafettin Saka with 15 votes, and Ergün Şahin with 14 votes. From the Danıştay side, we had Kemal Açıkgöz with 5 votes, Cengiz Aydemir with 29 votes, and Aysel Demirel with 284 votes. The academic and lawyer gang brought in Hasan Oğuz Altınkaynak with 12 votes, Figen Şaştım with 11 votes, and Alişan Tiryaki dominating the scene with 293 votes. Oh, and let’s not forget the two MPs who didn’t bother to vote and the 20 who just couldn’t get it right.
Now, onto the second round where they needed a three-fifths majority. 363 MPs decided to grace the voting with their presence. Ömer Fark Aydıner jumped from 41 to 78 votes, Fuzuli Aydoğdu took a dip to 204 votes, and Mustafa Yapıcı struggled to 75 votes. İbrahim Temir managed to get 133 votes, Hakan Türkön with 25 votes, and Hakan Yüksel still going strong with 203 votes. Seyfi Han with 218 votes, Şerafettin Saka with 42 votes, and Ergün Şahin with 102 votes. From Danıştay, we had Kemal Açıkgöz with 69 votes, Cengiz Aydemir with 74 votes, and Aysel Demirel with 219 votes. The academic and lawyer squad brought Hasan Oğuz Altınkaynak with 136 votes, Figen Şaştım with 7 votes, and Alişan Tiryaki with 217 votes. And then, my friends, we moved on to the third round where they used the ad pull method. Fuzuli Aydoğdu, Hakan Yüksel, Seyfi Han from Yargıtay, Cengiz Aydemir from Danıştay, and the one and only Alişan Tiryaki from the academic and lawyer crew snagged those coveted spots in the HSK.
And there you have it, folks! The drama, the suspense, the thrill of the vote counting. Who will make the cut? Who will fall short? Not really sure why this matters, but hey, it’s always interesting to see how these things play out. Maybe it’s just me, but I feel like there’s always a surprise or two in these voting sessions. But in the end, the HSK got their five new members, and life goes on in the world of Turkish politics.
