Inan Kıraç, a businessperson, took legal action against his daughter, Ipek Kıraç, in January 2023 due to the inheritance of his late wife, Suna Kıraç, who passed away in 2020 and was the daughter of Vehbi Koç, the founder of Koç Holding. In response, Ipek Kıraç also filed a lawsuit against her father, Inan Kıraç, sparking a rift between the father and daughter. Subsequently, Inan Kıraç announced that he was rejecting Ipek Kıraç as his daughter, stating that he wanted to dedicate all his assets to charity for underprivileged children through a foundation he planned to establish. The relationship between father and daughter turned icy as a result.
After completely erasing his daughter, who was the only woman left in his life, Inan Kıraç surprisingly married Emine Alangoya, a 77-year-old woman who had worked in Koç Holding’s finance group for 52 years, on December 20, 2024. Inan Kıraç obtained a medical report from Yeditepe University Faculty of Medicine Hospital to justify his marriage due to his age. However, this marriage did not bring peace to anyone. Upon learning about the marriage, Ipek Kıraç claimed that her father lacked legal capacity and filed a lawsuit in January 2025 at the Anatolian 18th Family Court for the annulment of the marriage. Ipek Kıraç also filed a lawsuit to have a guardian appointed for her father. The court decided to refer Inan Kıraç to the Forensic Medicine Institute to determine if he had the legal capacity.
Following this decision, Inan Kıraç underwent an examination at the Forensic Medicine Institute, and a report was sent to the court on March 1, 2025. The report stated that due to certain neurological issues and his age, Inan Kıraç lacked legal capacity and needed a guardian to be appointed. The court ruled for lawyers Atakan Yılmaz and Mert Öztekin to be appointed as permanent guardians. With this decision of Anatolian 2nd Civil Court of First Instance, the way was opened for the annulment of the marriage between Inan Kıraç and Emine Alangoya. The Family Court was awaiting this decision and will be reviewing the annulment case in the coming days.
However, the ongoing cold war between Ipek Kıraç and Emine Alangoya did not end there. While Ipek Kıraç was fighting a legal battle, Emine Alangoya was also not idle. Inan Kıraç, who was undergoing treatment at Koç University Hospital as per a court order, reportedly made contact with individuals from outside while under the supervision of two appointed guardians last Thursday around 8:00 p.m. According to allegations, Kıraç willingly got into a car and left the hospital. The prosecutor initiated an investigation as the act of removing Kıraç from the hospital without the approval of guardians was considered a ‘crime’ from a legal perspective.
