The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey has reiterated its commitment to working towards achieving an urgent and lasting ceasefire in Palestine, ensuring uninterrupted humanitarian aid reaches Gaza, recognizing Palestine, and taking necessary steps towards a two-state solution. This announcement comes following a meeting in Madrid focused on the Palestinian issue, where discussions were held on various crucial matters concerning the region.

Turkey’s Foreign Ministry issued a statement regarding the meeting held in Madrid, emphasizing the importance of addressing the ongoing crisis in Palestine. The Turkish Foreign Minister participated in the meeting alongside members of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the Arab League, as well as representatives from Spain, Slovenia, Norway, Ireland, and the European Union. The gathering aimed to discuss ways to halt the genocide being perpetrated by Israel in Gaza and the crimes committed in the West Bank, evaluate the ongoing ceasefire negotiations in Gaza, assess humanitarian aid efforts, discuss the recognition of Palestine, and explore avenues for achieving a two-state solution.
Key Outcomes of the Meeting
At the conclusion of the meeting, a joint statement was issued calling for the immediate recognition of Palestine and urging support for a two-state solution from the international community. The statement highlighted the escalating violations of international law, stressing the need for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and an end to attacks targeting Palestinians in the West Bank. It also emphasized the necessity of providing urgent and uninterrupted humanitarian aid to Gaza and expressed support for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA). Additionally, a decision was made to convene another meeting in New York during the High-Level Week of the UN General Assembly in September.
