In a joint operation conducted by the Gendarmerie and Police units in the rural area of Savur district in Mardin, PKK/KCK terrorist group member Zafer (code name) Özcan Günay has been neutralized.
The operation, codenamed “GÜRZ-21”, involved the participation of Mardin Provincial Gendarmerie Command and Provincial Police Department teams, with the support of armed drones (J-SİHA) and armored vehicles, as well as Gendarmerie Special Operations (JÖH), Police Special Operations (PÖH), and Gendarmerie Public Order Teams (JOPER).
The terrorist neutralized in the operation was identified as having joined the terrorist organization in 2014 and was reported to have been part of the organization during the Olive Branch Operation in the Afrin region of Syria in 2018.
