Hulusi Akar Refutes Claims by Nevşin Mengü and Ümit Özdağ, Plans to File Criminal Complaint

Journalist Nevşin Mengü made a statement on her Youtube channel, alleging that Hulusi Akar instigated MHP leader Bahçeli against lieutenants through the Victory Party. Zafer Party Chairman Ümit Özdağ also shared Nevşin Mengü’s broadcast, stating, “These claims, if true, are very serious. As the Zafer Party, we will closely monitor and investigate them.” TBMM National Defense Commission Chairman and AK Party Member of Parliament for Kayseri, Hulusi Akar, took to social media to deny the allegations made by both individuals and announced his intention to file a criminal complaint.

Investigations into the “sword oath ceremony” conducted by lieutenants are ongoing, while journalist Nevşin Mengü and Zafer Party Chairman Ümit Özdağ have made some claims regarding the incident. Nevşin Mengü, in her Youtube statement, accused Hulusi Akar of trying to bring attention to himself by saying, “He served as a minister at one point. He was dismissed from the ministry. He does not want to remain as a regular member of parliament. According to the information I have gathered, he first reached out to Devlet Bahçeli. ‘Sir, these individuals are from the Zafer Party. They are trying to incite a coup. This cannot be tolerated.’ He is trying to say ‘Bring me back.’ Zafer Party Chairman Ümit Özdağ also shared the relevant part of Nevşin Mengü’s Youtube broadcast, stating, “Nevşin Mengü shared very important information/claim. Hulusi Akar went to Devlet Bahçeli and said that the lieutenants who took the oath were members of the Zafer Party. He instigated Bahçeli against the lieutenants through the Zafer Party. After the incident on August 30th, there were 3 supportive statements from the MHP towards the lieutenants, then Bahçeli criticized the lieutenants harshly. At that time, Nevşin Mengü explained on her show that the reason for this criticism was Bahçeli’s belief that the lieutenants were Zafer Party members: Sources I spoke to claimed that Hulusi Akar stirred up trouble through young lieutenants to return to the Ministry of National Defense. If these claims are true, they are very serious allegations. We, as the Zafer Party, will closely monitor and investigate them.”

MINISTER AKAR REFUTES ALLEGATIONS

“No one can tarnish one’s reputation for personal gain and ratings. It is unacceptable for a so-called journalist to fabricate entirely unrealistic, fabricated, and completely fictional information from behind a desk. We condemn those who ignore the principles of press ethics and lack intellectual morality! We will hold accountable those who have made irresponsibility and lack of decency a profession and keep the public busy. We will hold accountable those who throw stones into the well and those who jump after the stone within the framework of the law.”
