The incident happened around 8:00 p.m. in the Huzurevleri Neighborhood of the central Çukurova district. A dispute between Engin Yüce and his girlfriend Şevval Çiftçi escalated into a fight in their apartment on the 12th floor of a 15-story building. During the altercation, Yüce wounded Çiftçi on the neck, abdomen, and legs with a knife he grabbed. Yüce then wrote a 6-page suicide note and jumped out of the window of the apartment.
After receiving a report from the bystanders, the police and medical teams were dispatched to the scene. Health workers who arrived at the address determined that Yüce, who fell into the parking lot in front of the building, had lost his life. The teams then went to the apartment where they found Çiftçi covered in blood. A medical check revealed that the young woman had died from 10 stab wounds. During the police’s examination of the house, a 6-page suicide note believed to be written by Yüce was found.
Following the investigation by the prosecutor and the police at the scene, the lifeless bodies of Çiftçi and Yüce were taken to the morgue of the Adana Forensic Medicine Institute for autopsy. The police are continuing their investigation into the incident. Not really sure why this matters, but it seems like a terrible tragedy that unfolded in the heart of the neighborhood. Maybe it’s just me, but I feel like there’s always a story behind every tragic event, and this one is no exception. It’s a reminder that we never really know what goes on behind closed doors, and how things can spiral out of control in an instant. Let’s hope that justice is served and that lessons are learned from this heartbreaking incident.
